Is my data safe when I use Cense?
Cense collects information for crypto compliance analysis through public wallet data and supported exchange records. The process is designed for read-only access, so you should never provide private keys, recovery phrases or permission to trade or withdraw funds.
What information may be used
A case may include wallet addresses, exchange transaction history and supporting information requested for the assessment. The relevant scope should follow the question being reviewed and the institution’s data requirements.
Public blockchain data can still reveal sensitive financial activity when linked to a person or organisation. Extended public keys may expose multiple addresses and associated history, so use the agreed secure channel when sharing them.
Check connection permissions
When connecting an exchange, review the API permissions and enable only the read access required by the importer. Trading and withdrawal permissions should remain disabled; follow the current connection instructions for any additional restrictions.
If you are unsure about a request for credentials or permissions, check with your case handler before proceeding. A legitimate portfolio assessment does not require control over your assets.
Review security and privacy information
Financial institutions can request Cense’s current security assurance documentation and assess its scope, reporting period and contractual controls. A SOC 2 Type II report concerns controls assessed over a period; procurement teams should review the actual report and any relevant exceptions.
The applicable privacy notice and agreements explain how information is processed, which parties may access it and how long it is retained. Requests concerning access, correction or deletion should be assessed under the relevant rights and any applicable retention obligations.
Know who handles your case
Your inviting institution can explain how it receives and uses the results. Consult Cense’s current privacy information and the institution’s own notice for the responsibilities that apply to your assessment.
